An affordable way to protect our table tops can also be an attractive way of decorating our kitchen or dining room. Trying to match colors and themes can be a challenge but finding a set of vinyl placemats is always an easier alternative to painting the room.
If it proves impossible for one set to work in both rooms there is comfort in the affordability of vinyl placemats. Where buying a second set to accommodate the dining room or patio table may take time and energy, just remember how long it took to select the paint, not to mention the mess involved.
As a conscientious parent, I’ve always stipulated that my kids eat dinner at the table. Dinnertime is a valuable time of day when families can get together and discuss the events of the day while enjoying a delicious, home-cooked meal. The only problem with my plan is that our dinner table is an antique with tremendous sentimental value. It was made by hand in my grandfather’s work shop, and I really like to show it off whenever company comes to dine at our house.
When the kids sit down to dinner, their negligence knows no bounds. They don’t worry much about keeping the table spotless, and the sauce and bits of food that drop from their mouths and utensils is proof of that fact. Luckily, I’m always staying one step ahead by laying down vinyl placemats to catch the mess before it can do damage to the wood. Even after dessert, the table remains in mint condition.
If you’ve ever had to resurface a kitchen table, or refinish a wooden table in the kitchen or dining room you’ve probably already realized after the fact that protecting the surface may have prevented this costly repair. Most of the time we’re just tempted to purchase a new table.
Even with the use of a table cloth hot plates and bowls can weaken a wood finish. Constant wiping also strips away the finish over time. Vinyl placemats may seem like an easy solution, but when used consistently they deliver the protection we need.
Some mornings are harder than others to get going and we need a little help. Having breakfast on a rooster placemat can be like a wake up call even if we don’t hear him crowing.
If our objective is to liven up the school kids, then having those bright colors beaming up at them might just do the trick. Using positive imagery in our surroundings will have a positive effect on attitudes.
Sometimes the vinyl placemats we use on our kitchen tables or counters enhance the decor. Mostly they just make cleaning up a whole lot easier.
Fortunately the variety of colors and designs increases the possibility of matching any kitchens surroundings. Unfortunately with so many vinyl placemats to choose from, the selection is bound to take longer.
