If you’re coordinating a family event with a large dinner, it’s best to bring out the best of everything. Especially if you have some China or special dinner plates that you rarely get to use, it’s the perfect opportunity to pull out this finery. For the greatest aesthetic effect, make sure that everyone at the table has a matching plate as well as matching accessories.
Also, it’s the perfect time to pull out the stainless steel flatware. On a day to day basis, we don’t often use items this nice. But when we host these kinds of family get-togethers, it’s an excuse to dust off our finest. Just remember that stainless steel cutlery shouldn’t be placed in the dishwasher with silverplate. Also, use sparing detergent, as too much can result in rust stains. And don’t crowd the cutlery in the dishwasher. If you are really concerned, however, about the maintaining the quality of the flatware, just wash the items by hand.
